SUMMER SOLSTICE SACRED DANCE CIRCLE

An Embodied Movement Workshop With Christina

​Sister, are you feeling called to move your body in a safe space? Embrace dance as movement medicine! We will join our hearts and sychronize our bodies to feel graceful, beautiful and strong. This 3-part workshop will focus on intentional connection with warm-ups, dance technique & a group choreography inspired by the solstice and will conclude with an outdoor filmed performance to the sun.

The Sun represents the light of all life and consciousness and the Solstice signifies the time when the Earth is at the fullness of her strength, fertility, and abundance. We too can celebrate our strength in gathering together, moving as one and offering gratitude for the abundance that we experience daily.

It is my vision to celebrate Midsummer in ceremony with fellow sisters as we harmonize our bodies with intentional movement.​

OPENING

Each class will begin with a grounding meditation.

WARM UP & TECHNIQUE

We will then warm-up our bodies to prepare for basic dance technique; creating shapes and phrases with our upper & lower body and layering movement.

(Dance fundamentals will be strongly grounded in foundational belly dance technique/movement, as well as classical & contemporary styles. Belly dance experience is wonderful but not required.) Open to all dance levels.

CHOREOGRAPHY

The remainder of class will be used to learn a choreographed dance in celebration of the solstice. Connection to each other, our own bodies and the intention of the solstice will be incorporated in the dance as we create various formations, levels and sequences using a prop. (Props will be handed out for use in class.)

CLOSING

Each class will close with a brief moment of reflection and appreciation.

CEREMONIAL PERFORMANCE

We will gather in an outdoor location to create an altar, opening ritual and perform the dance amongst ourselves in celebration of the solstice. The intention is for the ceremonial performance to be filmed and shared with the group. Each sister should arrive dressed in white/off-white clothing and should adorn herself in whatever makes her feel beautiful.

If for any reason we are unable to run this event, we will contact each guest by phone/email asap and issue a full refund. Personal cancellations will not be refunded, but we encourage you to gift your space to another sister and provide us with her information before we gather. Mahalo!
